This is usually C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Wolfenstein 3D, though your mileage may vary if you use a custom location. I put it all together in a simple zip that you can install by unzipping directly into Steam's Wolfenstein 3D program folder. I also tweaked the DOSBox confs a little to add a bit of pixel smoothing and to run the game in true 4:3 aspect ratio as it was intended. Still, I think that keeps some of the old-school feel. The only caveat is you can't strafe and turn at the same time because the keyboard always overrides the mouse. It's not about using one of the excellent source port replacements you can find around the web.įor the most part, control was fixed by using the DOSBox key mapper to map WASD to forward, back and strafe, along with a small util I found called "novert" that disables the mouse Y-axis, giving you true "mouselook" control. This is specifically about fixing control in the original game provided by Steam. Hey all, I managed to more-or-less solve the problem of antiquated keyboard and mouse control in Wolf3D with a bit of Googling and thought I'd share in case anyone wants to try.
